Mount Everest

I am currently in a state of shock and  awe about what is happening on Mount Everest right now. Between 80-100 climbers left this morning for the summit. They haven't returned yet. In the wake of last weekend's horrible accident taking the lives of 4 climbers, when 200 people tried to summit in the same day. Human traffic jams are currently to blame. This has been the deadliest year in history on this mountain, so far 21 people have died. Expeditions are being called off. Thousands if not millions of dollars are being forfeited and for good reason. Costs range from $40 to $110 thousand dollars per person to climb.

Glued to the blogs and latest reports from Outside Magazine etc.... I am sure I will write more on this later.

Hello Everyone, sorry I haven't posted my vacation pictures here yet. They are on my Facebook if you can't wait a day or two. :)

Vacation was amazing. Weather was ok. Food was fantastic. Company was top notch.

Fairmont @ YVR

I have a serious love for this hotel. There is something so awesome about watching planes take off from your bed then waking up 2 hours before your flight and rolling on the airplane. Fail of the day... I put a "small" bottle of vodka in my carry on (which I was planning to check) and forgot! Bye bye vodka, sorry customs dude.

Being up graded to the Gold floor!! Priceless.. <3

Off the rock..

I love being on the ferry, especially on beautiful sunny days!!! Sailing between Galiano and Mayne islands is so neat!! If you can manage to avoid the cafeteria and bring some take out from Foo (so tasty right now) you are golden!!

Food of the day: Tuna Tataki salad from Foo!! Yum.

I think Airplanes and Ships are super super cool!!!

Yes I know I sound like a 10 year old boy, but come on you got to admit they are pretty awesome!! (except for the pollution and the damage they do the Eco-systems, let's just not think about that right now) I get to go on both in the next week!!!!!! The picture above is of the ship we will be on. It has about a 2,670 passenger capacity, 1,100 crew and costs $400 Million!!

The best part!!!! We get to sail under the Golden Gate Bridge!!! The only thing cooler would be doing it in a sail boat heading down wind with the spinnaker out, drinking a fantastic wine!!!

To California we go

Well words can't really express how stoked I am to be going on 7 day cruise up and down the California coast with my Nanny and Mom. We leave on Saturday. Ports of call include: San Diego, Ensenada, San Fransisco, and Santa Barbara. I have worked for the last 12 days or so.. not even sure anymore.

My Urbanspoon Review - The Black Hat

 

The Black Hat - wouldn't go again

Good:

-Nice room in a great location

-Great menu, meets the needs of most people even the culinary unadventurous

-The feature dish was the best

-Interesting drink list

-Great wine

Bad:

-Service: we had to ask for napkins (which were paper), dirty plates sat on the table for 5 minutes and the restaurant was dead, we had to ask for S&P which another server brought for us, and she had no charm.

-Presentation: Ketchup in a cafeteria squeeze bottle, paper napkins (this bothered me a lot, there is a $130 steak on the menu??), plating of the steak and fries (clearly not fresh cut and McDonalds size with a overcooked steak on top)

I was highly anticipating my experience here and I was left with a bad taste in my mouth. I kept thinking I wish I had brought my parents to somewhere I knew would be great. The steak and fries was really poorly plated. My dad had to put the fries on another plate just so he was able to cut his steak, which was medium and he order medium-rare. They served it with ketchup and no offer of mayonnaise or vinegar. I think if you are going to serve fries do it right. A Striploin and fries $30. I had the lamb shank and it was good.

This place is over priced and the food is just ok.

My new fish ring!!!!!

This is my new fish ring. I am a Pisces and when I saw this ring I fell in love with it. It's a bit small but I am going to get it sized. I have been on the hunt for a while now to replace the sliver band I have been wearing for um I dunno 8 years. :)

Alright. That was quite a stretch and a lot of working hours.

Well for the last 6 months I have been working part-time at the Delta (21 hours/week) and last night it all came to a brief halt. I was temporarily laid off due to construction and low occupancy. I have never been laid off before so this is all new to me. Starting January 1st I have only one job for two months. It's going to be a real shock. My boss made me pinky swear I would come back in March. No joke we actually pinky sweared. It was super funny. I was super bummed about it last night because the Delta has become my social life and it felt like I lost a friend(s). I know I am dork.

So what to do now?? I am thinking I will finally use my Bikram Groupon, start running again and catch up on my movie list. That will all have to wait until mid-January because I am taking a much needed 1.5 off work to bum around Ukee. (56 hours a week is starting to get to me)

I raised $565 towards breast cancer research!!! I rock!! Thanks to my donors!! You make me rock!

I did the Run for the Cure yesterday morning and it was so great! I rolled up in my scooter at 8:45, hit the pavement and completed the 5km run in 27:24. Killed my last years time.

This was my second year, I raised more money this year and completed the run faster. Win Win!

I was planning on doing the 8km Road Race this weekend but due to a busy work schedule and an appetite for turkey I will not have the time. I will be turkey cooking instead. :)

I am super addicted !!!

I am in love with this group. They are playing in Vancouver Oct 10th. If I could go I would cry. It's good thing I am not going :)

Rifflandia!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok so I haven't been blogging much because I have been working and I got a little discouraged last week while working through some personal drama. Well the drama has passed and I feel stronger than ever!!!!! Heck YES!!

My brother Shaun and his girl Monika came down from Ukee last weekend and joined by my other brother Aren and his girl we all went out for some good old fashion fun. Dinner at Fiamo (awesome) and then to the night shows for Rifflandia. Tickets were $55 for all the night shows for three nights. We only did two of the nights and both were awesome. Most memorable show by far was The Knocks from Detroit at the Phillips Brewery, super amazing venue!! Sadly only beer on tap. I ended Saturday night by going to meet up with some friends at Hush for Dekoze, it was a double header of music and it was awesome. I skipped all the way home.

Some how I also ended up getting dropped off at home on Friday night in a limo, crazy world.

I sat down at Ogden Point tonight for several hours and it was magical. The sun was setting and I made some new friends. A middle aged couple that reminded me of my step-mom and Dad. They really made my night. They are from Duncan and just drove down for the day. She was super happy and it was contagious exactly what I needed.

Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure:

I am doing Run for the Cure again this year! After learning yesterday that another person close to me has been diagnosed with cancer I am over-whelmed with these feelings to take charge of life.  I planned on sitting my couch and wasting my day yesterday but I decided that was not productive. I rode my scooter all around town (I still only have 50km on it or so), had lunch with a friend, sat on the beach for a while, and did a few chores.

If you feel like supporting my run next Sunday, that's cool. You can do it at the following link. If you can't donate you could just come and hold my cell phone while I run, it would really help a lot :) Running with an iphone sucks.

New Hair ... coming soon!!

I am trying a new hair salon on Saturday (tomorrow)!! I am super excited. My best friend Laura's stylist is doing a cut and colour on me. Maybe I will cut my hair really short, OR maybe I won't. Tehehe.  Amanda has short hair and that is always a good sign. Speaking of stylists: I really don't like this particular stylist at Fish (name unknown), I asked him to cut my hair and he told me I didn't have much to work with. I have heard things about him from other girls who have visited him too!! It's not our fault you're ugly and your stupid band sucks!!! Funny thing: he has really long hair! I should have asked him to give me some of his, lol.
